In due course, Satyakāma reached his teacher’s house. The teacher greeted him, saying, ‘O Satyakāma.’ He replied, ‘Yes, lord’.
The teacher said: ‘Somya, you shine like one who has known Brahman. Who taught you?’ Satyakāma assured him: ‘Certainly no human being. But will you, O Lord, please teach me now about Brahman, the subject closest to my heart?’
(Satyakāma said) ‘I have heard from revered ones like you that a person learns best when he learns from a competent teacher.’ The teacher then, taught Satyakāma everything. Nothing was left out.
