Chandogya

The Chandogya Upanishad is notable for its lilting metric structure, its mention of ancient cultural elements such as musical instruments, and embedded philosophical premises that later served as foundation for Vedanta schools.

Seventeenth Khanda

The earth is the hiṃkāra, the space between the earth and space is the prastāva, space is the udgītha, the quarters (directions) are the pratihāra, and the ocean is the nidhana. The Sāma known as Śakvarī is rooted in the earth and other worlds (lokas).

He who knows that the Sāma known as Śakvarī is located in the worlds (lokas) goes to the best world (loka). He also has a long and brilliant life and is well known for his children and for his animal wealth. He is considered to be a great person because of his great deeds. He takes a vow that he will never criticize the worlds (lokas).
