Chandogya

The Chandogya Upanishad is notable for its lilting metric structure, its mention of ancient cultural elements such as musical instruments, and embedded philosophical premises that later served as foundation for Vedanta schools.

Thirteenth Khanda

'hiṃkāra' is the sign of a man to a woman; It is 'prastāva' to please him; His lying with her is the 'udgītha'; His embrace is the 'pratihāra'; Her spending time with him is 'nidhana.'; And cessation of sexual activity is also a 'nidhana'. It is the Vama-devya Sama which is about sexual intercourse.

He who thus knows Vama-devya Sama as embedded in sexual intercourse—comates and reproduces by every sexual intercourse. He lives the full span of his life, and his life is wonderful. He is famous for his children and his cattle wealth, and he is highly respected in society. He vows that he will not reject a woman seeking sexual intercourse.
