Shvetashvatara

The Shvetashvatara Upanishad opens with the metaphysical questions about first causes. Upanishad is an ancient Sanskrit text embedded in the Yajurveda. The word Shvetashvatara translates to "the one carrying beyond on white horse" or simply "white mule that carries".

Fifth Chapter

In the same 'Akshara' and 'Anant', both 'Vidya' and 'Avidya' are enshrined, which is beyond even 'Brahman', described in the Vedas. But among these, Avidya is Kshar, perishable and Vidya is Amrit Swarupa; And 'That', who is the God of both of them, is other (different) from both of them.

'He' who is 'Ekameva', enters in different forms (wombs), in many forms and in the wombs of all beings. In the beginning, He filled sage Kapil, who was in the mother's womb, with various knowledge; 'He' saw Kapil being born.

This 'Dev' himself sometimes weaves one net and sometimes another and by creating multiple nets from it, spreads it in this body like area; Again 'He' collects all this within himself. And 'He' created many Yatis, great sages, in this way that 'Ish', that Mahatma in his Vishweshwar form dominates (rules) all.

When the 'Sun' rises and sets the world in motion, then it becomes resplendent illuminating all the directions, vertical, horizontal and horizontal. In the same way, although He is the effulgent and resplendent 'Ishvara', 'Ekameva', He enters every Yoni and rules it according to the nature of that Yoni.

For 'He' who is the 'yoni' (place of origin) of this 'universe' brings each nature to its perfection and perfects all those that are yet to be perfected. 'He' 'Ekmev' is the presiding deity of 'His' this world, 'He' resides in it and employs all the qualities of 'Prakriti' in their actions.

This is the deep secret that lies in the Upanishads; Because Upanishads are the secret of Vedas. 'This' is what Brahma knows as 'Brahma-yoni' - the womb of the Eternal, and the former gods and sages who knew 'This' became immortal (tanmaya) by becoming identical with 'This'.

There is a 'He' who is the creator of the fruits of actions, because 'He' is united with the qualities of Prakriti; 'He' is the one who enjoys the deeds done; This 'world' is the body of 'him' and 'his' nature is trigunatmika and similarly there are three paths of 'his' journey. Oh, this 'lord of souls', through the movement of 'his' own deeds, transmits from age to age.

'His' size is equal to the thumb of a man but his form is like the resplendent 'Sun', he is full of 'will-power' and 'ahankar' - 'personality'; But there is another whom we perceive through the qualities of 'intellect' and through the qualities of 'soul', because that 'other' is more subtle than the tip of a cobbler's needle, for vision.

If you want to separate 'it', then take a hundredth part of the tip of a hair and divide it completely; Then this 'soul' in a human being is also a hundredth part of this hundredth part; Yet it is within you that is capable of going towards 'infinity'.

It is neither female nor male, nor is it neuter; Whatever body it takes, it keeps 'it' safe and bound within itself.

Just as the body is born and nurtured by food, water and abundant rain, in the same way the 'soul' in this body by the attraction of sight, the charm of touch, the magic of will takes successive forms at their proper places, because He progresses according to his deeds and his forms are determined according to his deeds.

The 'soul' situated in the body, develops subtle, gross and many other forms by its nature in action; He develops them through the Karma-law of his actions and the Karma-law of the 'soul' in man. But there is an 'other' also 'which' we see as 'coincidence' (cause) in which all these get together.

In the midst of this chaos and disorganized Prapanch (Kalil), that 'Eternal', who creates this world by taking many forms, and surrounds it even though being 'Ekamev', that 'Dev'. One who knows God, that person becomes free from all entanglements.

'Shiva', who is the 'Swami' of all existences (bhava) and non-existences (a-bhava), from whom this whole creation flows, and all this is only a part of 'Shiva'; But they are called 'Anidya' i.e. not known by the name of any shelter of the liberated 'soul', which is only accessible by the feelings of the heart, those who know such auspicious 'Shiva', they are forever free from the body.
